A Foreign Ministry spokesperson on October 28 reaffirmed Vietnam’s unswerving stand to support UN resolutions that urge an end to the US embargo against Cuba.
Nguyen Phuong Nga made the statement in response to correspondents’ questions about the nation’s viewpoints on a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly on October 26, requesting the US to lift the multi-decade long economic embargo against Cuba .
The spokeswoman said, “As friends of Cubans, the Vietnamese people have always been standing by the fraternal Cuban people in their national construction and defence”.
“Vietnam condemns any unilateral embargo imposed by a nation on another while backing resolutions passed by the UN General Assembly urging the US to end its embargo against Cuba .
“Vietnam holds that differences between the US and Cuba should be solved through dialogues and negotiations in the spirit of mutual respect of independence and sovereignty.”/.
