Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese students claimed two gold and one silver medals at the 48th International Chemistry Olympiad in Georgia.

The information was revealed by the Agency of Testing and Education Administrators under the Ministry of Education and Training on August 1.

The gold medals went to Dinh Quang Hieu, an 11th grade student from the Hanoi National University’s Gifted School for Natural Science, and Nguyen Khanh Duy, a 12th grader from Lam Son Gifted High School in the central province of Thanh Hoa.

Nguyen Thanh Trung, a student from grade 12 of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, brought home a silver medal.

The competition, which took place in Tbilisi, Georgia for the first time from July 23 to August 1, drew 280 students from 75 countries and territories.

China won four golds while Russia, Rumania, the Republic of Korea, and China’s Taiwan each bagged three golds. Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, India and Iran each claimed two golds.-VNA
