Hanoi (VNA) – The army of Bangladesh and Vietnam can share experience and work together in various fields, especially in United Nations peacekeeping operations and natural disaster prevention and relief, said a Bangladeshi diplomat.

Bangladeshi Ambassador to Vietnam Samina Naz met with Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang in Hanoi on May 31.

The diplomat said that the people of Bangladesh always admire the victory of Vietnamese people, with immense contributions by the Vietnam People’s Army, in their struggle for national liberation.

Samina Naz affirmed that he will work hard for the growth of the Vietnam-Bangladesh relations as well as bilateral defence cooperation.

He also conveyed Principal Staff Officer Lieut. Gen. Mahfuzur Rahman’s invitation to visit Bangladesh to Giang who accepted it with pleasure.

For his part, Giang stated that the Vietnamese people always keep in their mind warm sentiments and helpful support given by the Bangladeshi people in the past and present.

He stressed that the Defence Ministry of Vietnam always welcomes Bangladeshi officers who come to study Vietnamese and other training at the Vietnam Academy of Defence.

He said he hopes the Bangladeshi ambassador will make contributions to the development of the Vietnam-Bangladesh partnership, especially in defence. -VNA
