Vietnam will continue to boots multifaceted cooperation with Belgium while pursuing a foreign policy of multilateralisation and diversification.
The newly-accredited Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium, Pham Sanh Chau, made the statement following the presentation of his credentials to Belgian King Albert II in the Belgian capital city of Brussels on May 26.
At the reception, the King and the ambassador discussed ways to further promote the relationship between Vietnam and Belgium.
On May 16, in his capacity as Ambassador and Head of the Vietnamese delegation to the European Union (EU), Chau presented his credentials to President of European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
Barroso praised Vietnam’s policy on comprehensive integration and the EU-Vietnam growing bilateral cooperation over the past time, which has brought benefits to both sides.
The EC President said he believed the Vietnam-EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) will be signed soon and expressed his hope that the two sides will conduct negotiations so as to finalise a Free Trade Agreement in the near future.
Chau said he hoped, as one of Vietnam’s leading important partners, EU would continue to support and make more contributions to the country’s renewal, development and comprehensive integration process in the years to come./.
