The navies of Vietnam and Singapore have agreed to establish a hotline as part of their future cooperation, according to a memorandum of understanding (MOU) freshly signed in Brunei.

The document was inked at the talks on December 5 between Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, Rear Admiral Dato Paduka Hj Abd Halim bin Hj Mohd Hanifah and Commander of the Vietnamese People’s Navy Admiral Nguyen Van Hien.

During the talks, t he two sides reviewed defence and military ties and sought measures to further promote it.

Previously, the Vietnamese guest was received by senior officers of the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Br unei Armed Forces.

Both sides agreed that the signing of the MoU was an important step to foster cooperation between the two naval forces in maintaining stability and peace and ensuring maritime security and safety in the region.

During his six-day official visit from December 1, Hien, who also works as Deputy Defence Minister, attended the 4 th Brunei International Defence Exhibition (BRIDEX 4).-VNA
