Vietnam on August 22 voiced deep concern over the the escalation of violence in Egypt and called on all related parties to exercise restraint.

“Vietnam is deeply concerned about the rising violence in Egypt which causes the loss of civilian lives,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi at a regular press conference in Hanoi.
 
“We called on relevant sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation of violence and settle differences via peaceful dialogue so that Egypt will soon become stable and develop further,” he said when answering reporters’ queries about Vietnam’s stance on the current situation in Egypt.

Earlier, Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung told Vietnam News Agency (VNA) that the Foreign Ministry has directed the embassy to be prepared to begin evacuations if necessary.

At present, 79 Vietnamese citizens are working and studying in Egypt, including 24 public servants and their accompanying families.-VNA
