Hanoi (VNA) – Parties concerned in Turkey’s recent downing of a Russian jet should exercise restraint and refrain from acts escalating the tension, Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Le Hai Binh said at the regular press conference in Hanoi on November 26.

They should deal with the issue in accordance with international law, making responsible contributions to maintaining peace in the region and the world, he stressed when asked about Vietnam’s response to the matter.

The Turkish air force said its warplanes shot down a Russian SU-24 frontline bomber near the Syrian-Turkish borders on November 24 morning, claiming the Russian aircraft had violated Turkish airspace. Russia refuted Turkey's statement, saying the Russian plane was in Syrian airspace when it was shot down.-VNA
