Moscow (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia on April 14 sent a diplomaticnote to local authorities calling for their essential and timely health supportfor overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in the context of the increasing number of COVID-19infections caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 among the Vietnamesecommunity in the country.
Sincethe first case of suspected virus infection in the Vietnamese community inMoscow was announced late March, the number of OVs infected with the virus inthe Vietnamese community in Russia, especially in Moscow, has increasedrapidly.
According to the embassy's steering committee on COVID-19 prevention and control, as of April 15, about 100 OVs in Russia had been hospitalisedfor treatment of common pneumonia and pneumonia caused by the virus.
Ofthese, at least 80 cases in Moscow have been confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2.Notably, many of them have been told to be treated at home because of their stablehealth conditions.
Theembassy has regularly updated the Vietnamese community on relevant information andprovided support when needed.
Asof April 15, Russia had confirmed 24,490 cases of COVID-19 nationwide,including 198 deaths.
Inthe face of overloading in hospitals and health centres in Moscow, the Russiangovernment has launched more treatment centres./.
