The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace of Cambodia, Kong Som Ol, visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh on June 21 to mark the 45 th anniversary of Vietnamese-Cambodian diplomatic ties (June 24).

As an envoy of Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni, his father Norodom Sihanouk and his mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, to mark the occasion, Deputy PM Kong Som Ol presented Ambassador Ngo Anh Dung with letters of congratulations from King Norodom Sihamoni to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Truong Tan Sang.

He thanked the Vietnamese State and people for helping Cambodia to escape from the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime in the past and to boost national construction and development in the country at present.

Currently, the friendship and neighbourliness that lie between Vietnam and Cambodia should be consolidated and developed further in the interests of both peoples, he stressed.

Ambasador Dung stated that the Vietnamese State and people always try to develop bilateral ties with the motto, ‘good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability,’ which was initiated by senior level leaders from both countries.-VNA
