Phnom Penh (VNA) – Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam held talks with Cambodian Minister of State at the Interior Ministry Ouk Kimlek in Phnom Penh on March 16, discussing cooperation in ensuring security in their respective countries.

At the function, both sides exchanged opinions on international and regional affairs of mutual concern.

Lauding the good outcomes of engagements between the two nations’ public security bodies over the past time, they said that the two sides need to collaborate in implementing the communiqué of the 9th Vietnam – Cambodia conference on cooperation and development among border provinces, particularly in ensuring border security, and organising events marking the Vietnam – Cambodia friendship year 2017.

The Vietnamese side suggested the Cambodian home ministry to facilitate the lives of Vietnamese expatriates.

The same day, Deputy Minister Nam met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Samdech Sar Kheng, who praised effective cooperation between the two countries’ police forces in the fight against crime.   

He said he expects the two sides will continue working together to tackle organised and trans-border crimes, for security and socio-economic development of both nations.-VNA
