Vietnam, Cambodia provinces to step up cooperation

Officials from the Mekong Delta province of An Giang and the Cambodian provinces of Ta Keo and Kandal met in Chau Doc town on July 19 to review cooperation results in the first half of 2010 and discuss ways to boost cooperative ties in the second half of the year.

Both sides noted with pleasure the positive results achievedin a wide range of fields, including border security, the economy,commerce, agriculture, culture, tourism, health care, transport, borderdemarcation and marker planting, and in the search and repatriation ofthe remains of volunteer Vietnamese soldiers who laid down their livesin Cambodia .

Concerned agencies from the threeprovinces have regularly maintained the exchange of information,conducted joint patrols to protect the shared border, and worked toprevent and combat crime.

The officials discussedmeasures to further beef up cooperation in the remaining months of 2010,focusing on maintaining social order and security along the commonborder, completing the construction of the remaining border markers andfostering economic development at border gates.

AnGiang and Ta Keo provinces agreed to ask the two governments for theapplication of “one-door” procedures for goods, people and vehicles atthe Tinh Bien-Phnom Den international border gate.

The two provinces also agreed to open the Vinh Gia-Ta O auxiliary bordergate and will also consider the possibility of opening the Vinh Nguonauxiliary border gate to strengthen border economic development andfacilitate two-way trade./.

Vietnam promotes defence cooperation at Eurosatory 2026

During the event, the Vietnamese delegation met with major French defence firms, including Airbus and UNAC, to discuss technology transfer, human resource training, technical support and defence industry development. Vietnam also invited international partners to participate in the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2026, scheduled to be held in Hanoi this December.
