By the end of the year, Vietnam and Cambodia expect to sign an energy cooperation agreement, which will be effective for 10 years.

Officials from Vietnam ’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Cambodia ’s Ministry of Industry, Mining and Energy reached an accord on the content of a draft agreement during their working sessions between July 21-22.

The 8-article agreement aims to boost investment cooperation on hydro-power plants and the building of power grids connecting the two countries.

It will also aim to increase cross-border power sales, promote mineral exploration and exploitation and encourage businesses in the two countries to cooperate and implement sustainable development projects to protect the environment and the ecosystem./.
