The Vietnamese Embassy in Iran has hosted a celebration for the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2), drawing the attendance of Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ibrahim Rahimpour and former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

Addressing the September 2 event, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach said over the past seven decades, Vietnam has closed the past and always looked towards the future, turning enemies into its major partners today.

The country has served as an active member of many regional and global organisations, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United Nations, he noted.

The diplomat also highlighted that Vietnam and Iran see huge potential for cooperation and the two nations should work to complement each other and improve mutual understanding between their people.

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Ibrahim Rahimpour spoke highly of Vietnam ’s achievements over the past years and affirmed that Iran will continue to foster its ties with Vietnam.

Guests to the event had a chance to enjoy traditional Vietnamese food and music performances performed by Vietnamese artists.-VNA
