Lao Cai (VNA) –
The 17th Vietnam-China International Trade Fair kicked off in the north-western border province of Lao Cai on November 10 under the theme “Integration – Cooperation for mutual development”.

The annual event is rotationally held by Vietnam’s Lao Cai city and Hekou district of China’s Yunnan province as part of the national tourism year 2017.

It is expected to boost cooperation in tourism between Vietnamese and Chinese localities, including Lao Cai and Yunnan provinces.

It looks to increase the bilateral trade via Lao Cai international border gate and help businesses make inroads into the Yunnan market and create development momentum for China’s south-western provinces.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung said the trade fair, which takes place on the occasion of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017, is an important event to strengthen Vietnam-China economic, trade partnership and make active contributions to regional peace, cooperation, development and prosperity.

Gao Shu Xun, adviser to the Yunnan people government, said the trade fair has become a highlight in the economic-trade cooperation between Lao Cai and Yunnan in particular and Vietnam and China in general over the past few years.

The event creates a venue for participants to seek business and investment opportunities, he added.

This year’s fair features nearly 800 pavilions offering various kinds of products such as agro-forestry-aquatic products, medicines, machinery, automobile equipment, chemicals, construction material, electronics, households commodities, and handicrafts.
