Vietnam, China step up defence ties

At a reception given by the Chinese Defence Minister, Liang Guanglie, in China on August 24, Deputy Minister Vinh praised China ’s support for the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+) scheduled for this October in Hanoi .

Minister Liang welcomed the ADMM+ and said that he hoped the forthcoming conference will become a forum for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other regional countries to deal with non-traditional security challenges and nurture more cooperation and mutual trust.

Both host and guest discussed Vietnam and China ’s relationship, particularly in defence.

Minister Liang proposed boosting cooperation between China and Vietnam in every field and consolidating bilateral ties to mark the 60 th anniversary of their diplomatic ties./.
