Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam's Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu and Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui have expressed their readiness to well implement high-level common perceptions, striving to realise signed projects and documents on development cooperation, especially in transport connectivity, human resources training and improving living conditions of people.

The two officials met on the sidelines of the 16th session of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation in Beijing.

Vu urged China to swiftly approve non-refundable aid for Vietnam to prepare a feasibility study report for Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway project, and work closely together to accelerate the planning for Dong Dang-Hanoi and Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hai Phong railway projects.

He highlighted the urgency of signing of documents that confirm non-refundable Official Development Assistance (ODA) for the repair and maintenance of the Vietnam-China Friendship Palace, the completion of documents for the new campus of the Vietnam University of Traditional Medicine (VUTM), the quick approval of funding for four social and public welfare projects in Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, and Yen Bai provinces, which are set to benefit from a 600 million RMB (82.8 million USD) aid package, and continued effective cooperation in workforce training.

In response, Luo said China is ready to support the feasibility report for the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway project, collaborate on the planning of the Dong Dang-Hanoi and Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hai Phong railway routes, back railway staff training, and expedite the repair and maintenance of the Vietnam-China Friendship Palace.

He also expressed commitment to assisting in the construction of the VUTM’s new campus and prioritising Vietnam’s access to multilateral cooperation funds under the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) frameworks./.
