Vietnam failed to take the bronze medal at the third Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup for Women after losing to hosts Kazakhstan 18-25, 18-20, 16-25 in the third-placed playoff on Sept. 16.

In the first set, hits of Do Thi Minh, Pham Thi Yen and Nguyen Thi Xuan were blocked by Kazakhstan 's resolute wall at the net, as the hosts took a one set lead.

The Vietnamese players doubled their efforts for the second set, but still couldn't quite match the Kazakhs.

Under huge pressure from the hosts' fans, Vietnam quickly subsided in the third set to hand Kazakhstan straight sets win.

Despite fourth place being the Vietnamese team's best ever result at the Cup, it was not enough for them to qualify for the 2013 Volleyball World Grand Prix.-VNA
