Vietnam confirmed 155 more cases of A/H1N1 influenza on August 30, raising the total number of flu patients in the country to 2,724 with two deaths.

The new cases included 116 in the South, eight in the North, 13 in the central region and 18 in the Central Highlands.

A total of 1,328 patients have been discharged from hospital after treatment. The remaining 1,394 are under quarantine and being treated. All are in stable condition.

The Health Ministry’s Prevention Medicine and Environment Department has asked schools nationwide to set up their own A/H1N1 Flu Prevention and Control Steering Boards and work with local clinics to devise anti-A/H1N1 flu plans.

It also called on people to protect themselves and the community by washing their hands with soap or anti-septic liquids and ensuring environmental hygiene.

The department also warned people not to use Tamiflu without prescription so as to avoid complications.

The ministry is closely working with localities, relevant ministries and branches, international organisations and foreign countries to prevent the spread of the pandemic in the nation and bring it under control./.
