Hanoi (VNA) – The Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) and the Samsung Skills Training Centre (SSTC) will support and provide technical training for Vietnamese contestants in preparation for the 44th World Skills Competition (WSC).

Under a memorandum of understanding signed between t he General Department of Vocational Training (GDVT) with SSTC and SEV on April 15 in Hanoi, Samsung will select candidates for the national skills competition in 2016 in the two categories of mechanical engineering and IT software solutions.

The selected contestants, after that, will be trained at the SSTC in Suwon, the Republic of Korea covering the basic skills of their profession, skill practices and getting acquainted with the competition’s contents.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, GDVT Vice General Director Cao Van Sam said his agency will continue working closely with SEV and SSTC, towards reaslising the goal of winning medals at the competition.

Participation in the event will help Vietnamese experts and contestants update advanced technologies and learn from international friends, thus improving their skills.

SSTC Director Jang Dong Seob stated that the centre will do its best to help Vietnamese contestants create standout at the competition, which will take place in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates in October this year.

At the World Skills Competition 2015 in Saul Paulo, Brazil, Nguyen Thanh Duy of Vietnam brought home a bronze medal after earning 535 points out of a total possible score of 600 in IT Software Solutions for Business. He was also awarded “Best of Nation” title among representatives of 59 participating countries that year.-VNA
