Vietnamese and Cuban senior officials expressed their pleasures with results in bilateral cooperation agreed at the 26 th meeting of inter-governmental committee for economic, scientific and technological cooperation.

Addressing the 27 th meeting in Havana on Oct. 19, Cuban Construction Minister Fidel Figueroa highly valued Vietnam’s provision of rice to Cuba as well as the implementation of projects to grow rice, maize and soya in Cuba with a total capital of 3.4 million USD, which, he said, has helped the Latin American country fulfil its food security programme.

Minister Fidel Figueroa, who is also chairman of the Cuba-Vietnam cooperation sub-committee, was delighted at results of bilateral cooperation in information technology, construction and trade between Cuban and Vietnamese businesses through fairs held in both countries.

He said he wished the Cuban Party, Government and people to expand and promote economic-trade cooperation with Vietnam, contributing to further tightening traditional friendship between the two peoples.

Vietnamese Construction Minister Nguyen Hong Quan stressed that contents agreed between the two countries in the previous meeting were implemented well despite economic crisis. However, the results did not match with the two countries’ friendship and potential, he said.

Minister Quan, who is also chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba cooperation sub-committee, proposed expanding cooperation scale in food production, trade, oil and gas industry, bio-technology, investment, information and communications.

Within the framework of the meeting, a Cuba-Vietnam business forum was held with the participation of nearly 200 entrepreneurs from both countries./.
