Vietnam launched a Cultural Week in Limassol city in the Republic of Cyprus on January 18, which has since received high praise from international friends.

The event includes a range of activities, such as movie screenings, tourism promotion workshops, a photo exhibition on Vietnam’s islands and sea, and a festival of Vietnamese flavours and cuisine.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Limassol Mayor Andreas said the cultural week will contribute to fostering bilateral ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Cyprus.

He also said the city’s administration continues to create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community living in Limassol in accordance with law.

The Cultural Week is the first event of a festive programme to celebrate 40 years of Vietnam-Cyprus diplomatic relations (1975 - 2015).

Currently, as many as 12,000 Vietnamese expatriates live in Cyprus.-VNA
