Hanoi (VNA) - Now that the COVID-19 pandemic has been brought under relative control, various special cultural activities will be held in this year’s programme “Vietnam Day in Foreign Countries” in Austria, India, and the Republic of Korea.

The hybrid programme “Vietnam Day in Foreign Countries 2022” will be held in Austria, India, and Republic of Korea on the occasion of the anniversaries of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and those countries.

The information was released by the Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a press conference on September 23.

In 2010, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was assigned by the Prime Minister to hold the annual national popularisation programme. This year, the department will join hands with Vietnamese embassies in the three countries, the MarknB, My Thanh and Le Media group to hold the day.

Speaking at a press conference, Deputy Director of the department Tran Quoc Khanh said even in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam still successfully held special cultural popularisation events. It is now time to bring back the day on a larger scale.

The official also said that this is the right time to send out the message on the desire to further deepen relations of cooperation between Vietnam and other countries. It is also a chance to bring to international public, including the Vietnamese communities in foreign countries, the image of a beautiful Vietnam rich in vitality and potential for development. The day helps create a chance for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in every field.

Relevant offices are joining hands with partners and on a variety of platforms so as to help spread cultural values to the Vietnamese communities in foreign countries, the international public and friends, Khanh said.

In Austria, the programme will be held on September 28 and 29 in Vienna in the presence of Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. The official will cut the ribbon to launch the Vietnam Culture Space, co-chair the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Austria diplomatic relations, and open the Vietnam-Austria Business Forum.

It is expected to bring to the public a panorama on the relations of cooperation and friendship between the two countries. The event will create a chance to increase awareness on bilateral economic cooperation and trade, and various special art genres of Vietnam.

In India, the programme will be held from November 3-4 in New Delhi with various activities in economy, culture and politics, the most prominent among which will be an art performance to mark the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations and a Vietnam-India Business Forum.

A special point of note is that at the launch ceremony of the Vietnam Culture Space, the public will have a chance to get a close look at Vietnam’s vegetarian food and tea.

To be held from the end of November to early December this year in Seoul, the programme in Republic of Korea as part of the activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations will coincide with an official visit to the country by a high-ranking leader of Vietnam.

Noteworthy activities will include a ceremony marking the anniversary with the participation of the leader, a business forum, and Vietnam – Republic of Korea film and food exchanges. Through the programme, the public there will have a chance to look back on the 30 years of the development of bilateral relations and to enjoy Vietnamese tea, water puppetry shows and making of Dong Ho folk paintings.
