Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga has criticised the Chinese ships anchored in Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos as violating Vietnam’s sovereignty.

Nga made the statement to reporters on November 27, referring to China ’s recent move of sending out two fishery patrol ships to the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago and one medical ship to the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

“ Vietnam reiterates its undeniable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. China ’s sending of ships there is a serious violation of Vietnam ’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos,” she emphasised.

She also said that after the information was confirmed, the Foreign Ministry sent staff to the Chinese Embassy to protest and demand China put an end to this action and stop all activities that would further complicate the East Sea situation.

This should be done to contribute to “maintaining peace, stability and cooperation in the region”, the spokesperson concluded./.
