Minister Counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK Le Thi Thu Hang on March 16 offered flowers in tribute to the great German thinker Karl Marx at Highgate cemetery in London.

Many representatives from the British and international communist parties were present at the ceremony to commemorate Marx, who died on March 14, 1883.

Vice Chairwoman of the Communist Party of Britain Liz Payne praised Marx, Friedrich Engels and Vladimir Lenin for their fight against the oppression of women, saying that the works left by these eminent thinkers remain valuable today and encourage women in the fight for equality.

The event also created a chance for international communists to commemorate soldiers who devoted their whole life to the struggles for independence, liberty and the interests of the working people, such as Vietnamese General Vo Nguyen Giap, South African President Nelson Mandela and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Born in 1818 into a middle-class family in Germany, Karl Marx is among the most influential socialist thinkers to emerge in the 19th century and one of the founders of communism.-VNA
