Vietnam and Denmark have agreed to further a project on cooperation in children’s literature in the 2011-2015 period.
According to an agreement signed by the Kim Dong Publishing House and the Danish Writers’ Association in Hanoi on Nov. 18, the project will target children of the 10-14 age group, using television to encourage children read books.
The two sides will also maintain children’s reading clubs and publish children’s literary works created by the two countries’ writers and painters.
The project’s manager Le Thi Dat said the project in the 2006-2010 period was one of cooperative activities between the two countries that aims to encourage writing for children in Vietnam.
During the period, eight seminars were held for Vietnamese writers and painters and 20 works, including some having won the Vietnam Books prizes in 2009, were published as the result of the project.
Another success of the project was the establishment of 15 readers’ clubs in Hanoi and provinces of Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Son La in the north, Thanh Hoa in the centre and Can Tho and An Giang in the south. The project presented these clubs with 900 book titles with nearly 13,000 copies.
In addition, the project also helped to organise several exhibitions of pictures and illustrations for children’s books in Hanoi./.
