The Vietnam Government will continue to promote multifaceted cooperation with Egypt , especially in economics and trade, a Vietnamese official has said.

Deputy Foreign Minister Doan Xuan Hung, who is also special envoy of the Prime Minister made the affirmation at his meetings with Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and representatives from some Egyptian ministries during a working visit to the country from June 25-28.

At the meetings, the host’s representatives spoke highly the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to the country and said that Egypt wanted to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.

The host proposed that the Vietnamese Government create favourable conditions for the country’s goods and businesses to enter the Vietnamese market. They also called on Vietnamese businesses to invest in Egypt and expressed their wish to learn experiences in developing aquaculture from Vietnam .

Speaking at the meetings, Hung said that the Vietnamese Government always attaches much importance to good relations with Egypt , adding that Vietnam hopes to open a new chapter in relationship between the two countries.

He affirmed that Vietnam is willing to cooperate with Egypt in many fields such as agriculture, aquaculture, oil and gas development and telecommunications.

Hung urged the Egyptian Government to facilitate Vietnamese enterprises’ investment in the country in order to further promote strategic relations between the two countries.

During the meetings, both sides showed their expectation to strengthen existing relations by boosting the exchange of visits by their high ranking delegations. The two sides set a goal to raise two-way trade between the two countries to 500 million USD, even 1 billion USD from 160 million USD at present./.
