Hanoi (VNA) – Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia attended the April 13 trial of Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong who is one of the suspects in the murder of a citizen of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), to ensure her legal rights.

The embassy said at the hearing, the court of Sepang district of Malaysia’s Selangor state approved the prosecutor’s proposal to prolong the trial process to finalise documents, hence the next hearing will be held on May 30.

The embassy will continue to work closely with the Vietnam Bar Federation, domestic authorized agencies as well as Malaysian and Vietnamese lawyers to ensure a fair and impartial trial for Huong and protect her legal rights.

Doan Thi Huong, 28, is one of the two women suspects in the murder of the DPRK man named Kim Chol at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on February 13.

On March 1, the two were charged with murder but they denied and said that they were deceived into taking part in an innocuous prank.-VNA
