Over 60 Danish families along with their Vietnamese adopted children gathered at a meeting hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark on May 29.

The event also saw the participation of representatives of the Danish International Child Care Organisation, the Vietnamese Association in Denmark and the Denmark-Vietnam Friendship Association.

Addressing the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Van Luu thanked Danish foster families for bringing up the children, saying that the embassy will continue its support for adoption-related activities to strengthen ties with foster families.

He pledged that Vietnam would work closely with Denmark to ensure adoption activities be in line with the humanitarian spirit and the two countries’ laws.

President of the Danish foster family association of Vietnamese adoptees thanked the Vietnamese Embassy for organising the event and its support for the association’s activities.

He said more than 800 Vietnamese adopted children in Denmark are being well educated and care by their new parents.
He expressed his hope that the embassy will organise more similar events to help the children know more about their fatherland.

At the gathering, the Danish adoptive parents exchanged experiences in raising children and promised to create conditions for their children to regularly visit their homeland.

Children and their parents had chances to enjoy a number of cultural activities and Vietnamese traditional food./.
