Vietnam has advanced to the semi-final round of the ASEAN Youth Football Championships in Brunei.

They defeated Cambodia 3-0 in the last group round match on August 18 to take the top place in Group B.

Ho Tuan Tai scored a double at the 30th and 44th minutes, while Phan Van Long made it 3-0 seven minutes before the end of the game.

U19 Vietnam held Brunei to a 2-2 draw in the fourth round on August 15. The team has defeated Singapore 4-0, lost to Malaysia 0-2 and toppled Indonesia 3-1 in its earlier Group B matches.

In the other match, Malaysia lost 0-1 to the hosts. They are the second team from Group B entering the semis on August 20.

Vietnam will play Thailand, while Malaysia will face Myanmar in the last-four round.

The 2014 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy, which kicked off on August 8, has attracted 11 teams under the age of 22 divided into two groups.

Vietnam is in Group B, while Group A consists of East Timor, Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand.-VNA
