Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Esperanto Association (VEA) will strive to attract more young members during the 2018-2023 tenure, heard the sixth Vietnam Esperanto Congress in Hanoi on December 28.
In the period, the association will open more Esperanto classes at universities, especially the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
It will also prepare to successfully organise the ninth Asia-Pacific Congress of Esperanto from April 29-May 3, 2019, in the central city of Da Nang, thus creating favourable conditions to develop the association and promote the image of the central city in particular and the country in general to international friends.
At the event, Nguyen Van Loi was re-elected President of the VEA for the 2018-2023 tenure.
Deputy head of the multilateral work department under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Dong Huy Cuong said that in 2019, VUFO will coordinate closely with the VEA in its activities, particularly the organisation of the ninth Asia-Pacific Congress of Esperanto.
He granted the VUFO’s “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” insignia and certificate of merits to outstanding individuals and collectives for their contributions to the association’s operations in the 2013-2018 tenure.
Established on December 9, 1956, the VEA currently has about 200 members.-VNA
