The statement was made by National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong while receiving a delegation from the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF) led by its Vice President Meng Xiaosi in Hanoi on October 18.

The Chinese delegation is in Vietnam to attend the 14 th meeting of the General Assembly of the ASEAN Confederation of Women’s Organisations (ACWO) scheduled for October 19-20.

At the reception, Phong applauded the Chinese delegation’s visit, saying that it represents China ’s support for Vietnam in general and of the ACWF for the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) in particular in the year Vietnam assumes the ASEAN Chair.

She congratulated China on its great achievements over the past 30 years of reforms and said she was pleased with developments in the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries.

The NA Vice Chairwoman also praised the cooperation between the ACWF and the VWU and expressed her wish that the two unions would continue the exchange of delegations and the sharing of information and experiences as well as enhance multifaceted cooperation to accelerate women’s movements in each country.

The Chinese delegation head spoke highly of great achievements that the Vietnamese people, including women, have made under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam during the renewal and socialism building process.

She stressed that the Chinese Party, Government and people always attach importance to developing the traditional neighbourly friendship with Vietnam and will work together with the Vietnamese Party, government and people to consolidate and develop the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries./.
