Vietnam always expects to see stability and development in Thailand , Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya in Hanoi on May 7.
“Stability in Thailand is not only for the sake of the country but also for common interest of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries,” PM Dung said.
He affirmed Vietnam ’s consistent policy to protest violent and terrorist acts, leading to human and property losses for the Thai people.
Minister Kasit Piromya briefed PM Dung of his country’s recent socio-economic development, saying the political situation is still under the government’s control.
He thanked Vietnam ’s support for Thailand ’s national reconciliation process.
The Thai government wants to cement and deepen ties in all areas with Vietnam , Kasit said, expressing hope that the neighbouring country to continue its support for Thailand in expanding cooperative relations with other ASEAN countries.
Earlier the same day, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and Minister Kasit Piromya held talks, affirming continued enhancement of bilateral cooperation at regional and international fora as well as acceleration of subregional connectivity, including transport link.
Minister Kasit informed the Vietnamese Deputy PM about his country’s recent developments and the government efforts in solving the situation. He said the Thai government will spare no effort to implement the national reconciliation roadmap for interest of the Thai people, thus contributing to regional peace, stability, cooperation and development.
Deputy PM Khiem hailed recent positive developments in Thailand and wished the country to turn to normal soon for economic development and for peace and stability in the region.
He reaffirmed Vietnam ’s stance of non-interference in Thailand ’s internal affairs and protest against violent and terrorist acts.
Minister Kasit hailed Vietnam ’s success in organising the 16 th ASEAN Summit in Hanoi and said Thailand will continue backing Vietnam to fulfill its mission as ASEAN Chair and make contributions to the success of upcoming ASEAN meetings in Hanoi .
He also congratulated Vietnam on its attendance of the upcoming G20 Summit in capacity of ASEAN Chair./.
