The 2013 Vietnam Manufacturing Expo and the Industrial Components & Subcontracting (ICS) Vietnam exhibition will take place in Hanoi from September 4-6, aiming to engage Vietnamese firms in the global supply chain.

The Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) of Hanoi and Thailand’s Reed Tradex company will co-host the events under an agreement signed in Hanoi on July 18.

Duangdej Yuaikwamdee, Deputy Managing Director of Reed Tradex said domestic producers will have a chance to expand their export markets and discover state-of-the-art innovations in the region and around the world.

In the near future, Nokia will open the largest Southeast Asia mobile production facility in Vietnam, which together with the existing Samsung plant, will propel the country’s exports, he added.

Dao Thu Vinh, DoIT Deputy Director, said that at the Vietnam Manufacturing Expo, over 30 local manufacturers will come to upgrade their technology, productivity and knowledge to catch up with new global trends.

As part of the ICS Vietnam, the fifth Vietnam-Japan support industries exhibition and a Japanese Monozukuri technology show will be held. Over 200 enterprises from 20 countries and territories worldwide are expected to take part.

Since 2004, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have taken turns to hold the Vietnam-Japan supporting industries exhibition, which drew 114 exhibitors and sealed 100 deals last time around.-VNA
