The Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba took part in a “solidarity campfire” hosted by the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP), held in the Cuban capital, La Habana on Dec. 25.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Vu Chi Cong presented two porcelain elephants to ICAP as a gift on the occasion of its 50 th founding anniversary and affirmed the steadfast support of the Vietnamese Government, State and people to the fraternal Cuba country.

Addressing the event, the first Vice-President of ICAP Enrique Roman highlighted the socio-economic achievements recorded by Cuba in the past few years as well as expressed his thank to the countries that have supported ICAP during its 50 years of foundation and development.

He also expressed his gratitude for the friendship and supports other nations have given to Cuba , especially during its fight against the US ’s embargo for nearly half of century and its campaign to demand freedom for five Cuban revolutionaries who are imprisoned in the US .

Enrique Roman affirmed Cuba ’s commitments to continue to help developing countries in education and health care issues, adding that 53,000 students from 89 countries are studying in Cuba , while Ciba has sent almost 113,600 medical workers to 103 countries since 1963 to assist in health care efforts./.
