Vietnam and Finland have recently selected a new logo for the 40 th anniversary year of their diplomatic ties in 2013.

The new logo was picked out from a logo design competition, held by the Finnish Embassy in Vietnam , and directed to 3rd and 4th year students of the Faculty of Graphic Design of the Hanoi University of Industrial Arts.

The winning design, by 3 rd year student Dao Tung Duong, was hailed by the jury as “simple, but efficient, modern design, easy to use and remember, with a part of the star flying for tomorrow.”

The logo reflects the blooming relationship between Finland and Vietnam . It features water as a key element as Vietnam has a long coastline of 3,260 kilometres and many rivers while Finland has 200,000 lakes and has also provided an important contribution to the development of the water and sanitation sector in Vietnam. Meanwhile, the flying star symbolises next generations, innovations and new ideas for cooperation between the two countries.

In the year 2013, the Embassy of Finland will organise a series of cultural and other events in Vietnam, with a key one being the travelling exhibition of Finnish posters./
