The Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (VIETFISH) opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in HCM City on June 12.

The exhibition, the 12 th of its kind in Vietnam organised by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), is to help businesses learn technological advances in aquaculture and seafood processing, and seek business opportunities, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Luong Le Phuong said at the opening ceremony.

More than 170 businesses showcased their products in 283 booths, 70 percent of which were seafood processing and export businesses; the remaining specialise in supplying equipment, chemicals, additives and information for the fisheries sector.

During the exhibition from June 12-16, there will be seminars on the application of biotechnology in testing residual antibiotics in seafood products, and sustainable development of fisheries to meet the requirements of export markets. The participants will also discuss technologies to help fish farms meet international standards, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and packaging technology for the US and EU markets./.
