Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong headed a delegation to pay a working visit to France from April 14 to 16, with a view to boosting bilateral judicial cooperation.

The Vietnamese delegation attended the 18th session of the Orientation Committee of the Vietnam-France Legal Home (VFLH) in Paris.

At the meeting, heads of the two countries’ judicial agencies spoke highly of the organisation of the meeting, affirming it embodied the two governments’ interests in legal and judiciary cooperation in general and the VFLH activities in particular.

Professor Cuong, who is co-Chair of the Committee, thanked the French government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Justice for their valuable support to Vietnam during the process of building and improving the country’s legal and judiciary system. He said the support is of important landmark in the two countries’ cooperation in the field, adding the cooperation in legal and judiciary between Vietnam and France during the past 18 years has reaped fine outcomes.

This was the first time Vietnam and France have discussed a bilateral cooperation development strategy in the judicial field for the period between now and 2020. They proposed orientation to enhance training French-speaking human resources to act as a bridge between the legal sectors of the two countries, including organisations, associations, lawyers and notaries.

On concluding the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their determination in maintaining, renewing and developing the VFLH activities in line with the two governments’ stable and efficient technical cooperation institution./.
