Vietnam, France strengthen cooperation

Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh on October 23 wrapped up a two-day visit to France to boost cooperation with the European country.

During his stay in France , Minh worked with Secretary General of the French Foreign Ministry Pierre Sellal and several other leaders of the ministry on bilateral cooperation at the UN and other international forums.

During the working sessions, the French side expressed their delight at the development of the two countries’ relations in various fields and wishes to together with Vietnam continue discussing specific contents to further the bilateral ties.

Pierre Sellal said that France highly values Vietnam ’s positions in the region and international arena, especially its role of the ASEAN Chair at the upcoming G20 Summit in Seoul , the Republic of Korea .

For his part, Deputy Minister Minh informed the host of Vietnam ’s achievements in socio-economic development and effective response to the world economic-financial crisis as well as its active, constructive and responsible contributions to international issues.

He stressed that Vietnam , in its foreign policy, attaches importance and wants to boost relations with the EU in general and France in particular.

He also mentioned several issues that Vietnam is concerned about, including France and other EU countries’ early recognition of market regulations for Vietnam , thus ending the imposition of unfair anti-dumping taxes on several Vietnamese commodities./.
