Vietnam is a key partner of France in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the new French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean Francois Girault said.
He stressed the two countries’ same interests in a number of regional and international issues and similarities in historical, cultural and linguistic values while meeting with reporters in Hanoi on March 24.
The diplomatic said he was impressive by the vitality, dynamics, optimism and friendliness of the Vietnamese people.
Ambassador Girault affirmed that he will spare no effort in his capacity to promote bilateral cooperation in the prioritised areas of sustainable development and technology renewal, management and science training for Vietnam ’s development demand, and bilateral economic-trade ties.
Ambassador Girault is both a veteran diplomat and an expert on the Mid-East. He used to be the French ambassador in Syria and Iraq .
France is the largest investor and donor of the European Union in Vietnam./.
