Vietnam’s police force, in capacity of ASEANAPOL chair over the past year have effectively joined their ASEAN counterparts and partners in implementing commitments of the 29th ASEAN police chiefs conference, said Cambodian Deputy Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng.

The Cambodian official also hailed Vietnam’s efforts in mapping out effective crime prevention plans raising position of the ASEAN police in the international arena while opening the 30 th ASEANAPOL (Association of Southeast Asian Nations Chiefs of National Police) Conference in Phnom Penh on May 25.

He stressed the importance of cooperation among regional police forces in the context of increasing transnational, organised and cyber crimes.

Director of the Vietnam General Police Department Lieut. Gen. Pham Quy Ngo, who heads the Vietnamese delegation to the conference, made a speech at the event.

Later the same day, Lieut. Gen. Pham Quy Ngo was received by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. On behalf of ASEAN police chiefs, he briefed the PM on outcomes of implementation of anti-crime cooperation among ASEAN police forces over the past year.
