A meeting reviewing cooperation between Vietnamese and German police in the fight against criminal gangs over the past three years took place in Ho Chi Minh City on April 7.
The meeting, jointly held by the General Department of Police and the German Federation Investigation Agency, identified outstanding issues and put forward solutions to boost the effectiveness of cooperation programmes in preventing and combating dangerous criminals in the coming time.
According to the General Department of Police, the cooperation between the two countries’ police forces has brought about encouraging results over the past three years.
Information sharing, criminal extradition and case clarification have helped the two countries’ police forces proactively prevent criminal acts, affirmed Major General Do Kim Tuyen, Deputy General Director of the Department.
However, Tuyen reckoned that the two countries’ police forces should undertake more cooperative efforts to cope with money laundering, human trafficking, drugs and weapons smuggling and hi-tech criminals.
