Vietnamese blitz team on Nov. 1 defeated their Chinese rivals, winning the gold medal of the team event at the third Asian Indoor Games (AIG) being held in Vietnam.

The bronze medal of the event was shared by the Iranian and Indian team.

As many as 110 players from 18 countries and territories are competing in chess events, which are taking place in the northern province of Quang Ninh. They will compete for medals for blitz and quick chess of the men and women’s team and individual.

The same day, both the men’s and women’s teams of Vietnam entered the semi-final round of the hoop takraw tournament.

The women team will meet teams from the Republic of Korea , Thailand and Indonesia on Nov. 2, while the men team will play the Thai, Indonesian and Iranian teams. Thailand has been considered as hard rivals for the host teams.

In futsal, both women and men teams of Vietnam have to leave the games after suffering defeat before Jordanian rivals.

In Billiards and Snooker, Chinese Xiao Guodong won the gold in the men’s singles six-red-ball Snooker event, while his country mate Liang Wen Bo took the silver. The bronze medal went to Chandra Manan from India .

In the men’s singles three-cushion Carom, Vietnamese Duong Anh Vu won over Yuan Young Kuo from Taiwan to enter the semi-final round. He will meet Kim Kyung Roul from the Republic of Korea .

Another Vietnamese shooter, Ly The Vinh lost 33-40 to Umeda Ryuji from Japan in the men’s singles three-cushion Carom and had to leave the games./.
