Vietnamese students have won three medals in taekwondo at the world Youth Olympics, the 25 th Summer Universiade, held in Serbia, helping the whole team to rank 26 out of 36 in the medal tally as of July 8.

Nguyen Dinh Toan, who grabbed one gold medal at the World Taekwondo Performance Championship in Incheon, the Republic of Korea in 2007, won the men’s single performance silver medal.

Another silver medal went to the Vietnamese squad in the men’s team performance. Trung Anh and Thu Ngan won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles’ event.

The Summer Universiade, running from July 1-12 in the capital city of Belgrade and 69 venues across the city, is open to students aged between 17 and 28-years-old. Around 6,300 students from 142 countries are competing in 15 sports events.

Vietnam has recently won two silvers, ranking the 14 th out of 43 team, at the Asian Youth Games held from June 29-July 7 in Singapore./.
