The Vice Governor of China’s Guangdong province, Zhao Yu Fang, is leading a delegation from the province to visit Vietnam from December 8-11 at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry.

During the visit, the Guangdong Vice Governor and Foreign Deputy Minister Ho Xuan Son co-chaired the fourth periodic conference reviewing the connection between Vietnam’s ministries and localities and Guangdong over the previous year and making plans for future affiliation.

The two sides agreed that multi-faceted collaboration between Vietnam’s localities and China’s Guangdong province has seen positive outcomes in all fields, especially in trade, investment, agriculture and tourism, buoyed by the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Guangdong was recorded at 9.96 billion USD in the first ten months of 2013, a yearly increase of 44.3 percent.

During this year, six more Guangdong-based businesses started operating in Vietnam with a total capital of over 24 million USD.

The province is partnering with Vietnam to carry out several major projects in the country, such as An Duong industrial park and Vinh Tan 1 thermal power plant.

On the occasion of the visit, the Chinese province has also worked with Vietnam to organise a trade promotion conference in Ho Chi Minh City and a tourism promotion workshop in Da Nang.-VNA
