Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Haitian counterpart Laurent Salvador Lamothe discussed ways to boost the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries on the sideline of the ongoing general debate of the 68th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York on September 27.

The two leaders expressed their satisfaction at the rapid and active developments of the bilateral relations, including those in politics-diplomacy and economics-trade-investment.

PM Dung informed his counterpart that Vietnam is completing procedures to implement the framework agreement on trade and investment cooperation, and asked the Haitian side to continue facilitating and protecting the interest of the investment project of Viettel as well as of other Vietnamese enterprises investing in the country.

The Haitian leader expressed his wish to accelerate cooperation with Vietnam in various fields, especially economy, trade and investment; spoke highly of the bilateral cooperation efficiency; and affirmed to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses investing in Haiti.

The two agreed to boost cooperation between the countries in such fields as the cultivation of rice and other crops, post-harvest storage technologies and aquaculture. Vietnam is ready to share experience with Haiti in poverty alleviation, education and healthcare development, and to take part in projects in the reconstruction programme of Haiti , PM Dung said.-VNA
