The International Cooperation Company has handed over the just-completed project on border villages in the northern province of Houaphanh, Laos , to the provincial authority.

The project, started in 2005, aimed to help Lao people in remote and isolated areas develop production and benefit from national socio-economic development, along with ensuring order and security in border areas.

The project was carried out in Vienthong, Xammneua and Ett districts at a cost of 81 billion Lao Kip (nearly 15 billion VND or 0.8 million USD), of which the Lao Government provided 60 percent and the Vietnamese side, 40 percent.

Under the project, seven sections of road with a combined length of 75km, three village halls, 16 schools, three medical stations and a number of irrigation projects will be built./.
