So said Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Le Hai Binh on May 24 in reply to a question on Vietnam ’s reaction to the recent developments in Thailand .
A neighbour in the region and also a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Vietnam is watching the developments in Thailand with keen attention, added the official.
The same day, the Consulate Department under the ministry warned Vietnamese citizens not to go to Thailand if it is not really essential but to wait until the situation there stabilises.
The Vietnamese community in Thailand should abide by the provisions issued by local authorities and contact Vietnam ’s representative offices in the country if assistance is needed./
