Vietnam is recognised as one of the five countries in the world improving English proficiency at the fastest rate, alongside Portugal, Kazakhstan, Hungary and Indonesia.

The results were published on November 22 by the Education First organisation in HCM City after findings were analysed from their third English Proficiency Index (EF EPI) in 2013.

According to test scores, Asia is the most improving region while the Middle East and Africa have the lowest EF EPI results.

Vietnam ranked 28th overall, three places higher than last year.

Five million people throughout the world have entered the survey since it began evaluating global English proficiency in 2007 via online tests.

Last year the EF EPI was implemented in over 60 countries and territories with the participation of 750,000 people.-VNA
