Vietnamese businesses see great opportunities to export their products to Norway as the Scandinavian country is a member of the European Free Trade Area (EFTA).

According to the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, local companies should focus on products of Vietnam ’s strength which are in Norwegian demand, such as footwear, seafood, garments, furniture, vegetables and cashew nuts.

In the first three months of 2012, Vietnam-Norway import-export turnover reached 128.6 million USD. Of this figure, Vietnam ’s exports to Norway were nearly 82 million USD, up 26.3 percent over the same period last year, and imports were 46.7 million USD, up 33.7 percent.

Footwear topped the list of Vietnam ’s exports to Norway , with a turnover of 23.6 million USD. It was followed by garments, with 12.3 million USD; furniture, with 7.6 million USD; and seafood, with 4.2 million USD.-VNA
