A trade exchange and chemical exhibition got underway in Ho Chi Minh City on January 23 to boost chemical trade ties between Vietnam and India.

The two-day event is jointly organised by the Indian Consulate General in Vietnam, the office of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Ho Chi Minh City, and India’s Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL).

With 52 booths displaying organic and inorganic chemical products, including pesticides, cosmetics, dyes and pastels, the event aims to increase chemical exports, consolidate business ties, speed up cooperation and expand Indian business operations in Vietnam.

India is among Vietnam’s top ten leading trade partners, with two-way trade turnover of 4 billion USD in 2012. India is Vietnam’s second largest chemical supplier, exporting 213.2 million USD of goods to Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2012.-VNA
